Artemis Model Shoot at Smile Studio, Lincoln

Following on from my previous posts about Lena and ERosanne at Smile Studio in Waddington it’s about time I posted about the third model of the day, Artemis.

We started off in the bathroom of the studio where the light was absolutely flooding through the window at the end and making it a little hard to control, but giving great contrast between light and dark. But I’d been doing windows to death all morning (but who could blame me when the light was THAT good?) so we moved quickly on!

One of the great things about the bathroom was the green tiles! Artemis was very keen to try something a little funkier – so I went wide angle with my 24-70mm f2.8L lens on its widest setting on my 5D Mark II, Artemis pulled a great pose full of angles and I enhanced the RAW image back home to bring out the colours and texture in the tiling.

From here we moved out into the stairwell, and went back to the good old ‘posing by the window’ routine that had served me so well all morning! Again, Artemis posed effortlessly with her choice of lingerie matching the decor perfectly, and the natural light streaming in through the window doing the rest, well – with a little help from my reflector to bounce the light back onto Artemis to soften the scene slightly.

As the day drew to an end, Artemis was still firing on all cylinders and coming up with great ideas and poses. As we went into the front room she identified one of the walls as being quite interesting, with a cool wallpaper and classic wall light. She changed into her leotard and pulled off some excellent en-pointe ballet poses, holding them for far longer than could have been comfortable whilst I took my shots. Realising the effort she was putting in I quickly took my shots, allowing her to change pose frequently so as to avoid getting too tired.

And then, that was the end of the day. The hottest day of the year so far, some extremely high temperatures both indoors and out, but the models kept going throughout, helping to create photographs of the highest quality. It was a pleasure to work with them all, and I hope to work with them all again in the future.
