Tony Pringle – Lit with the Strobeam DL250, in the middle of a campsite!
As I also like to indulge in landscape photography, I always make a point of heading out to Keswick at least once a year to meet up with some fellow photographers for a weekend of banter and photography. One light setup at the Strobeam Product Launch
Yesterday I went to the launch of a couple of new portable strobist lighting products from Strobeam – the DL250 and EID G5. These are fairly compact and highly portable IGBT lighting kits which are both battery powered and in the case of the G5 can also be mains powered too.

The Frio Cold Shoe adaptor in all its glory!
I’ve been doing a fair bit of work for a corporate client recently (which I’ll blog about when the job’s all done) which has involved using off camera flash. Speedlights, Pocketwizards, Umbrellas, Softboxes – the usual sort of thing.
Now, what people don’t give too much thought to is how the trigger or flash mounts to their light stands – you’ll usually use the cold shoe (so called because it doesn’t actually trigger your flash) that comes with your umbrella adaptor or softbox mount. They’re supplied with it, therefore they do the job – right?
