On Wednesday, me and a couple of talented photographer friends (the excellent Justin Thompson and superb Mark Huddlestone) ventured into Birmingham to shoot some night-time cityscapes. For me, it was a chance to put some of the techniques I had learned at the ‘One Hour Photo’ shoot I had done with Lee Frost for Digital SLR Photography magazine back into practice – and it was a great excuse to get back out with the camera and photograph something a little different!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lady who had found my details on a Google search and needed a landscape photographer for a one-off commission of a tree in Peckleton, Leicester as a birthday present for a friend. She needed the photograph supplied as a mounted and framed print.

This is an old photograph from my first trip to the Lake District in September of 2009. This photograph of the Millennium Stone in Derwentwater was taken with a Canon 500D and 18-55mm kit lens. The smooth water was created by using a very dark filter which increased the length of time it took to take the photograph to around 20 seconds.
And no – I didn’t put the stone in there in Photoshop!
