Sunrise at Pernera, Cyprus

There’s not much better than watching the sun come up, and this shot, taken in the early hours of the morning in Pernera, Cyprus was one of the ones that summed up my holiday – beautiful and relaxing.

Deer in a snowy, wintery Bradgate Park, Leicester

At the weekend I decided to take a trip to Bradgate Park. It’s a country park in Leicester, home to Lady Jane Grey – the ‘Nine Day Queen’. It’s also home to a large amount of deer, and it was they who were the subject of my visit this time. The weather was terribly foggy, but the combination of the white bleakness, the snow covered ground and a stag looking back, checking out what I was up to led to a lovely photograph…

Leaf with water drops in the snow

It’s just a leaf, in the snow, but it caught my eye whilst I was walking around Bradgate Park in Leicester photographing the deer at the weekend. I personally like the frozen snow, yet the water drops are perfectly melted on the leaf itself. Lovely!

Corfe Castle Summer Sunrise

I do like a good sunrise – however, the problem is always being able to drag myself out of a comfortable bed in time to go and get one!

This was one of those rare occasions! About an hour before sunrise, I hauled myself out of my sleeping bag, left my warm tent and took a quick drive down to the village of Corfe Castle. From a quick reconnaisance trip the day before, I had found a vantage point on the hill opposite, so all I now needed to do was climb the hill (much easier said than done!) and wait for the sun to come up!

Sleeping Lion

I’ve been to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation on a couple of occasions now and I’ve not yet seen the lions, ‘The Kings of the Jungle’, do anything but sleep.

This one was happily having a nice nap, probably to get over the fight he’d just been in, judging by the scars and blood on his head!
