A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lady who had found my details on a Google search and needed a landscape photographer for a one-off commission of a tree in Peckleton, Leicester as a birthday present for a friend. She needed the photograph supplied as a mounted and framed print.<\/p>\n

As there’s nothing I love more than a good landscape photograph I was delighted to accept the job, and met up with my client later on that evening where she showed me the tree I needed to photograph. As I’d taken all my equipment with me I was perfectly set to get straight to work, and get some photographs straight away.<\/p>\n

Using my 24-70mm lens, and a combination of Lee Filters including a 3 stop Hard ND grad and ‘Big Stopper’ I managed to capture some really dramatic photographs, including the one above – which was my favourite from the evening. It was such a peaceful evening I couldn’t help but lie back and watch the world go round whilst my camera was taking the extreme long exposures!<\/p>\n

From that first evening I got a number of good photographs, but I wasn’t completely happy with just providing them for a final selection. I’d noticed from looking at a fantastic iPad app I own called ‘The Photographers Ephemeris’ that sunrise would happen just behind the tree. I owed it to my client to haul myself out of bed at 4am and head over to the tree to see what I could get!<\/p>\n

From setting up at around 4:45 I took shot after shot until at just gone 7am the sun had risen too high and the light had started to lose its yellow quality and I headed off back home to process the images and get them uploaded to my private gallery for the client to choose the one which would make the final image.<\/p>\n

After a lot of deliberation, the final image was chosen…<\/p>\n

Although my favourite in the black & white was a near choice, the client finally settled on the above photograph – a variant of the black & white. Next came the toughest decision – choosing the frame to put it in. I use a company called Loxley Colour to do all my printing and presentation requirements as I know the quality from them is first rate, and that I can rely on them to do my photographs justice. You end up paying a bit more, but it’s oh-so worth it! Eventually the final decision was made, and the photograph above was ordered in a 24″x16″ wenge frame.<\/p>\n

After a few days the finished product arrived, and to say it was stunning would be a massive understatement. Loxley had done me proud, and the quality of the framing and of the print was the highest standard, and one which I was delighted to present to my client.<\/p>\n

The very next day I hand delivered the framed print, to a \u00a0fantastic reception – she was delighted with it and knew her friend would be too.<\/p>\n

I have deliberately held back from posting about this commission until the present had been given to the final recipient. That was earlier this week, and soon after I received this glowing testimonial…<\/p>\n
